AKTUÁLNOSŤ VERZUS NADČASOVOSŤ SLANGOVÝCH VÝRAZOV V REČI SLOVENSKEJ MLÁDEŽE
ACTUALNESS VERSUS TIMELESSNESS OF SLANG EXPRESSIONS IN SPEECH OF SLOVAK YOUTH

Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the slang lexicon that is present in spontaneous speech manifestations of contemporary Slovak teenagers. On the basis of linguistic material from Slovak Slang Dictionary by B. Hochel (1993) we compare corpus of words derived from our own research. With this approach, we try to create a comparative basis to highlight the broader extralinguistic context of (cultural, social) factors that influence the formation and distribution of slang lexical systems. Based on research we can state about the prototypical Slovak teenage slang, both the quantitatively and qualitatively changing layer of slang terms (which arise as a response to the new cultural stimuli) versus the layer of passive slangisms. At the intersection of this imaginary boundary it was revealed the timeless and in the language of youth actively and long used expressions.
