Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the Edinburgh International Festival and on its impact over the community and the local, as well as the international artistic environment. Since its beginning in 1947, the festival has been one of the most important of its kind, setting trends in performing arts, while keeping a close contact with the mainstream artistic productions. The author analyzes the cultural identities of the performances that were invited, that have always been into the attention of the festival's director.
