Bulgaria According to the International Migrant Integration Policy Index

Summary/Abstract: For the first time integration policies for migrants in Bulgaria are evaluated with international rating which compares and correlates integration policies of 31 countries in Europe and North America. The paper aims to present how Bulgaria was assessed with MIPEX and what are the main challenges before immigrant integration in the areas access to education, citizenship, opportunities for political participation, protection from discrimination, the status of long-term residence and family reunification. In addition to the integration policies analysis, the article aims to outline the necessary steps and recommendations for their improvement in the context of gradually increasing immigration pressure in Bulgaria in recent years.
