Migration, Integration, Cities: a European Context

Summary/Abstract: International migration is an increasingly topical issue. Among the interesting new perspectives on the topic are the studies of migration in the urban context and in the aspect of the policies that cities develop in response to the challenges of intense diversity. Cities are the place in which the integration of migrants primarily occurs. Both the city authorities and the European institutions are aware of this and seek possibilities for cooperation and exchange of ideas. Across international projects and networks on one hand, and research endeavors on the other, the topic is yet to be developed and enriched with examples from the cities of Eastern Europe that are gradually changing their migration profile.
