Summary/Abstract: In this polemical contribution one of the fi rst signatories of Charter 77 and the publisher of the samizdat Informace o Chartě 77 presents fact-based criticism of the three-volume Charta 77: Dokumenty 1977–1989 (Prague, 2007), the complete edition of Charter 77 documents compiled and edited by Blanka Císařovská and Vilém Prečan. Relying on his own memory, he seeks to revise the date of the “constituent” Charter 77 meeting in December 1976, the authorship, and circumstances in which some of the documents were written, information on contacts between Czech and Polish opponents of the Communist regime, and other information. Although the publication of the Charter 77 documents was, he believes, necessary, he fi nds the commentary and notes unreliable.
