Summary/Abstract: The intellectual property rights are the civil private rights. Therefore, it is logical that they should be protected through civil procedure. However, given the fact that intellectual property, in addition to its private law component, also includes the public law component, the role of the public administration in the protection of these rights is of great importance, even irreplaceable. In this context, the following state bodies play a particularly important role in the protection of intellectual property: Intellectual Property Office, the police, and inspection and customs bodies. Each of them has its own, legally defined, function and this paper elaborates their tasks. However, bearing in mind that infringements ofintellectual property rights have reached epidemic proportions, both on national and international markets, the authors highlight the importance of the function of the inspection and customs bodies in the protection of intellectual property. They emphasize the good results of the customs bodies, which is not the case with the results of the market inspection bodies.
