Summary/Abstract: 2009 marked one of the weakest economic performances in recent years and some economists had already mentioned a possible reenactment of the Great Depression scenario (1929 – 1930). Fortunately, the year ended on a positive note, with clear signs of recovery of the great economic powers, such as Japan and certain countries belonging to the Eurozone, which resumed their growth much faster than the analysts had predicted
