Summary/Abstract: Taking as a starting point the connections made by critics between Caragiale and Ionesco and thus the common points of their works, the paper tries to highlight a specific form of allegorical reading of Caragiale's work, made by the theatre of Ionesco but also by the exegetes of their work. By identifying in both of them an imagery ol the crisis, the exegetes have made of Caragiale a critic of the late 19 century Romanian society while Ionesco is the critic of the entire humanity and its condition in the post-war mass society.
