Summary/Abstract: Grochowski’s article opens this special number on two, somewhat similar, contemporary trends in the humanities, whose methodological achievements are especially pertinent to literary studies. The author situates both schools on a wider map of postmodern thought, pointing out that their shared premises determine their relative similarity. However, Grochowski also shows that their distinctive characteristics allow each to maintain an independent position.
