Summary/Abstract: If we were to look for the main thread of Georg Simmel’s philosophy, in which his ideas make the loudest echo, it would, without a doubt be the notion of culture and phenomena standing in relation of subject-object or soul-spirit. Simmel is categorical in stating that the spirit is another human instance, but of the kind that produces its own creations which keep existing in peculiar autonomy, independent of the maker.
