Summary/Abstract: Assuming that 1989 was a moment of an affirmation of the political cultures belonging to the Central and Eastern Europe’s countries, this article attempts to highlight the specific elements of the overthrow of communism in Poland. In this regard, we analyze the Solidarnosc phenomenon from the perspective of the Polish political culture essential dichotomy: insurectionism vs. organic work. The main conclusion of this paper, entitled „The year 1989 in Poland. The Political Virtue of Moderation and the Conservative Vocation of Polish Solidarity“, is that the roundtable in the 1989 Poland represented the victory of Polish civil society in achieving a synthesis of the most important trends of the Polish political tradition, by assuming the conservative value of moderation as the principal political attitude.
