Summary/Abstract: The aim of this text is to point to the complex relations between the world of culture and current media policy in Serbia. The chosen example, which is worked out in detail in the text, demonstrates the relation between modern musical culture and Serbian media scene, and is also meant to point to the fact that the ideological polarization of the two dominant cultural models, symbolically represented by Guča and Exit, is a product of media illusion, which is ideologically programmed, and it thus represents not only the division in cultural life, but also the division of the state. This deceptive polarization, associated with the domain of cultural policy, and allegedly has an impact on the state and its core values, is generally a product of the media, which should be viewed in a wide context of the conflicting but interwoven processes of globalization and tribalization, toward which the field of genuine cultural action and growth opens and takes a (critical) stand against it.
