Summary/Abstract: This study analyzes the image of women in cruises advertising posters. These images are remarkable for two reasons. First they show the sociocultural aspects that revolve around the feminine image in tourism by putting thoughts on the current media. Then they use semiotic and linguistic strategies that play a fundamental role in the development of tourist’s desired destinations. Along this research, we propose to emphasize the importance of linguistic, semiotic and anthropological ads cruises. The analysis takes into account the perspective of cognitive linguistics, intentionality of communicative language which has a high incidence of rhetorical figures. Moreover, we stress the importance of the paratext (titles, subtitles, prefaces, public choice) in terms of structural linguistics. From the anthropological point of view, we analyze the function of female sexuality by the image of a tanned body and stripped by highlighting issues in symbolic reference to gender studies. This research is intended to give a contribution to the analysis of tourist advertising practice; this approach may be one of the key tools to achieve an understanding of gender representation in the global culture.
