Summary/Abstract: The Republic of Moldova, also known by the name of Bessarabia, returned to the political and social scene of Europe after half a century of anonymity within the Soviet Union. The new state was confronted with unknown problems that have imposed a new internal organization of the republic. After 1990, Bessarabia fought for the recognition of Romanian national identity and European re-adoption of the Latin alphabet and Romanian language. In our case, the construction of the discourse of national identity is a challenge to observe this phenomenon in the context of globalization and the relationship Moldova (post-Soviet state) – Soviet Union – Romania – the European Union. After 2007, when Romania became an EU member, in Bessarabia, we observe the emergence of a new kind of identity – the pro- european identity in opposition to the post-Soviet identity. In our opinion, this type of identity between East and West has become a very interesting, sensitive and current.
