Summary/Abstract: Sociolinguistic situation in the Republic of Moldova has a special interest for researches. Republic of Moldova is a territory where the evolution and dynamics of Romanian language were influenced by the presence of the Russian language, putting them in a relationship of “dominant language –dominant language”. Massive borrowings from Russian language, their instilling in the Romanian language vocabulary and the linguistic imaginary of the Romanian speakers are some of the points treated in the present article. The changes which suffered the Romanian language during the Union Soviet time so far can be explained by following the evolution diachronically. In the situation of the linguistic contact, the linguistic imaginary of the Romanian speakers is a particularly interesting phenomenon which arouses the linguists’ interest.
