Role Playing from the Vantage Point of Gender.An Unconventional Approach to Rethinking Theory and Practice in Romania

Summary/Abstract: This article aims to determine gender identity in Romania, to suggest ways to improve the gendered nature of interactions in school and to discuss the relationship ‘ethics – gender.’ Our research proposes a qualitative and quantitative approach to inferring causal relationship between the variables. Gendered role-play, discourse analysis and story text (Recollections of Childhood by I. Creanga) do not only demarcate the male identity and female identity in Romania but they also show that values are uncertain and the results must be interpreted in the light of R. Pring’s paradigm: “each person lives in a ‘world of ideas’ and it is through those ideas that the world (physical and social) is constructed.”
