Summary/Abstract: The subject of this article is to show tourism as an economic potential shaping and influencing local development. At the beginning local development and its internal and external factors are described. Next step is to show tourism in the local aspect as a significant element of social and economic development in the region. At the end, tourism is shown as one of the branches of economy, which is a chance for the development of Muszyna community.
