Summary/Abstract: Relations between the philosophical and theological reflections – in various modes and combinations – stretch as far back as the very origins of both of these forms of human spirituality. But the corpus of academic research bearing the title of “philosophical theology” has a definite terminus a quo; it dates back to a period of more than 60 years ago – to the early fifties of the previous century, and forms an integral part of the general development of the (mainly) Protestant apologetics of that time.
