Summary/Abstract: The Bologna process is the result of a declaration signed in June 1999, aimed to harmonize higher education in Europe, for the purpose of creating the “Europe of knowledge”. 29 countries signed it,, including Bosnia and Herzegovina which joined the process in 2003. As far as the Bologna process implementation is concerned, one logical and anticipated question is asked: is it properly and in a quality way implemented at the University of Sarajevo? There are also issues concerning some of the main characteristics of the Bologna process: the three-degree system, ECTS credits, elective subjects, students’ mobility, exchange of professors around Europe, diploma supplement which enables recognition of the diplomas throughout Europe, etc. By all accounts, there is no alternative to the Bologna process. In that sense, this paper does not propose annulment or termination of the Bologna process implementation; rather, it insists on the full, primarily functional implementation of the Bologna process which will result in the benefit for both students and professors at the Sarajevo University.
