Summary/Abstract: The paper gives a brief account of the evolution of Romanian Studies at University of Washinton in Seattle, insisting on the history of the Romanian language lectureship initiated by professor Jim Augerot in 1967, and continued by the intermittent presence of Romanian lecturers (including myself), and also by a considerable number of guest lecturers. It also offers information about the didactic instruments that sustained this teaching activity (textbooks, library facilities) and about the general situation of the field in the American academic environment.
