Summary/Abstract: In Bosnia-Herzegovina, just like in the rest of the world, media culture participates in shaping of main understandings of the world and its values. As such, it also produces new forms of subculture which have the main aim to create profit. We could say that, with help of media culture, masses obtain either ordinary or critical media literacy. We could say that media culture reflects society itself. Basic relation toward this culture is empathy. All media consumerist culture (together with media culture) is built on pleasure. Media culture is put in between simulacrum of re-memory of past, created after Daytonisation of reality, and quazi-cultural matrix of authentic creations. In general, there is a lack of domestic production, domestic ideas, domestic humor. Local movies are rare examples of Bosnian authentic products, as a form of local rebel and local freedom. Culture of reading books is unexpectedly revitalized and books and news magazines got their dignity back.
