Summary/Abstract: "Any definition of poetry according to Indian poetics must take into account three things. How does poetry differ from other forms of expression? What is the purpose of poetry? What is the effect of poetry? It is in the third question that the idea of aesthetic pleasure is implied. The word that, according to Abhinavagupta, sums up the entire body of critical literature is Rasa.
