Summary/Abstract: Real basis of all forms of globalisation (economic globalisation being the most prominent) consists of the contituouos, ever more rapid progress of the sciences, and of the consequent growth of knowledge, which gives rise to the expansion of the new technologies in the processes of production and communication. The science is also the system uncovering the critical data about the state and problems of the world. No one can renounce the results of the scientific progress, eventhough many of its consequences put grave difficulties and dilemmas especially before the less developed parts of the humanity. Part of the undesirable consequences of the growth of science and technology is due to the markedly uneven distribution of their goods and can be controlled and modified by political means in the international community. It is essential therefore to distinguish between primary and secondary effects of the globalisation, between objective and subjective aspects of its flow, between inescapable and facultative directions of the development.
