Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with the traditional metrology, with popular measures in the Western Herzegovina; with how people measured their work and life, and what parameters they used. The measures are interesting and are viewed in the ethnological, anthropological, linguistic and Biblical context. A large number of measures have got lost in today’s metrological system, but they are worth as a remembrance of a time and as a witness of human ingenuity in technical impossibilities. Also pointed out is the ethic dimension of the measuring system which with its greatest part relied on God’s “arshins”.
