Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses the folk beliefs of Croats of western Herzegovina and of the eternal desire of man to find out what will happen to him in the future. It also discusses about ways and means of prophecy. People were willing to associate with the evil forces, to enter into the secret of his dream and interpret his meaning, too. They are the real experts in folk meteorology and prophesying by months, days, and saints. Although firm faith in God and the laws of God, they were not foreign to enter the world of superstition. The study of folk belief is very important anthropological, philological and ethnological heritage of a people and its culture
