Summary/Abstract: The project entitled “My Bosnia and Herzegovina – My Heritage” is the product of the successful collaboration between the US Embassy in Sarajevo and the Commission to Preserve National Monuments. The need to make rising generations aware of the diversity of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s heritage is what prompted the basic aim of this project – to raise children’s and young people’s awareness of the importance of the heritage and to create a sense of ownership and responsibility for its preservation. After consulting specialists from various disciplines involved in the education and training of children, it was decided to make primary school children the target group. The project has been on-going throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2006, with particular focus on towns and the cultural monuments for which the US Embassy has allocated funds for restoration. So far the project has covered schools in Jajce, Šipovo, Mostar, Stolac, Berkovići, Blagaj, Sarajevo, Foča and Banja Luka.
