Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the idea of central European ideas popularization perceived as construction in Polish dissidents’ society of the 80s in the 20th century. As a base for his politological analysis, the author uses famous Milan Kundera’s essay entitled The Stolen West or The Tragedy of Central Eu- rope (1983) that initiates the discourse about the political shape of contemporary Europe, especially its central part, in Cold-War delimitations, détente age, and after-war state in Poland. Kundera’s essay, apart from its essential and formal qualities, is treated as important program offer for anti-communist opposition of the eastern block. The construct of Central Europe that is promoted by Czech writer and publicist becomes one of the most important ideas concerning this part of the continent, starting with the Pan-Germanism concept as „Mitteleuropa” introduced by Friedrich Neumann in 1915, or humanist idea by Thomas G. Masaryk that was a response to a German project and was perceived as an essential source of independence activities of dissidents in order to emancipate from the domina- tion of the Soviet Russia. He was the one who gave the assumpt and necessary motivation. The article presents different opinions, ideas and statements that construct the spectrum of protest with regard to the imposed political system.
