Organization of noble society in the region of Bessarabia in 1812–1823

Summary/Abstract: The history of the Bessarabian nobility is among the neglected topics of the national historiography. The article underlines the processes of formation of aristocratic society in the newly annexed territories after the Russian-Turkish war of 1806–1812. In this article is brought to light the work of the local administration that determined the number of individuals aspiring to nobility. The work of several audit committees on the study of the submitted documents on noble origins is also examined in this article.
