Summary/Abstract: The paper describes the development of a method to measure materialistic value orientations. Based on the conceptual model proposed by Graham (1999), 21 statements were formulated. The method was developed using data gathered in a sample of 121 subjects – all of them students at University. Exploratory factor analysis revealed three factors that describe materialistic values – happiness through material possessions, self-af' rmation through luxury consumption and wealth as a mean to maintain high social status
