Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the relationship between the concepts of territory, space, and place. The author is interested in the meanings of these concepts in the context of perceiving, valuing and using the urban space. The first section focuses on the role of place and its construction in the social reality. The following parts refer to the meaning of a metro and the ambivalence of space, methods of absorbing it, and to the disappearing public space in contemporary cities.
