Summary/Abstract: Sander photographed a cook holding a spoon, and looking at the camera. The cook wasn’t cooking, he was posing for the photograph. He represented himself as cook, and, also, many other cooks. Calvino wrote that such models wore archetypal masks, which showed both individual and group characteristics.
