Summary/Abstract: Considering the organization of the funerary space as a reflection of certain social aspects, we intend to analyze the meaning of tumuli graves dated in the second Iron Age in the lower Danube area in the context of necropolises which can be associated with their contemporaneous settlements. The exploitation of landscape as funerary space is understood as strongly connected with topographic and strategic features of the terrain. When putting in relation the expressions of status in funerary practices with the presumed associated habitation and routes, one could point out to the existence of authority centers and models of using and organizing the funerary space as identity statements.
