Summary/Abstract: Etički kodeks arhivista iz 1996. godine postavlja pred arhiviste niz načela kojih se trebaju pridržavati. The principles of archival service are contained in numerous standards, doctrines and in code of ethics. The code of ethics for archivists was adopted on 13th ICA Congress on September 6th 1996 in Beijing. However, there is an open question about archivist as an individual. Can archivist be impartial and preserve neutrality and objectivity in his profession? How strictly an archivist can obey every demand from code of ethics? Fundamental and honest analysis of these and similar questions can contribute for improvement of profession. Mere acceptance of prescribed standards does not means their instantaneous implementation.
