Summary/Abstract: This article is an attempt to justify the thesis that although the position of such prominent researchers in the history of economic thought as Schumpeter, Hesiod deserves to be regarded as the first „Economist“ of Ancient Greece. To defend the position that in Hesiod’s works can be found first attempts for economic analysis of economic practice and that Hesiod’s economic ideas come directly from his ideas about the world and the society in which he lived.
