Summary/Abstract: Abstract. The author identifies the Albanian policy towards Kosovo as guided primarily by its wish to perform as a reliable partner for the western powers and the USA. Over the last two decades, most Albanian politicians have carefully avoided any association with populist demands for a unification of Albania and Kosovo. The only moments when Albania did express its enthusiasm for the formation of an independent Kosovo in political terms was when it quickly recognized the new state, as well as when it rejected to support Serbia’s request at the International Court of Justice to rule on the legality of Kosovo’s independence.
