Summary/Abstract: Among the many uses of case in Gjon Buzuku’s Meshari, the ablative case is distinguished undoubtedly as one of the most frequen-tly used cases. A large number of functions may be expressed by using this case. The ablative in Buzuku’s work is used to express a series of complements: adverbial modifers and prepositional objects or noun complements. These constructions and uses have been compared with the corresponding variant of the Biblical Latin, with the purpose of bringing to light established grammatical forms in Buzuku’s Albanian and influences of Latin. There are cases where the ablative is used in both texts – in Buzuku’s text and in the corresponding biblical variant. Some of these cases have been put forth in the critical edition by Prof. Eqrem Çabej of the Meshari (Tirane, 1968).
