JAN POTOCKI’S JOURNEYS TO THE EAST

Summary/Abstract: The major aim of the article is an analysis and interpretation of Jan Potocki’s writing strategies in his relation from Middle East. Potocki joins his fascination with exoticism and scientific ambitions of Enlightenment. The perspective which he offers is ‘pre-ethnographical’ and consists in refutation of Euro centrism and methodological monocausalism.
