Summary/Abstract: The ethnic configuration in Italy has changed dramatically in the past decade, which brings about social and political reactions and laws agains immigration and in favor of protecting the Italian society. But the immigrants and their ethnicity bring to light also other realities of the Italian society, economy and politics. The appeal to ideology creates a gap between the Italian society of today and the approaches offered by the intellectual elite. In this respect, the author analyses Francesco Biscione’s article on Italian democracy and its adversaries.
