Summary/Abstract: The relation between the Evangelic Church C.A. in ROmania and the national-socialist organisations have found growing interest in the last years. The effects of the activities of superior institutions as the church leadership on the lower levels in the local evangelic communities were disregarded. This article presents a case study that demonstrates the contradictions that emerged after 1933 between the policy of the church leadership and its implementation in the parishes. The two parties involved in the youth work, the national-socialist local youth leadership and the church, had no clear agreement ont their respective competitions. Due to the agreements between the church leadership and the national-socialists, these conflicts were resolved to the disadvantage of pastors who disapproved the national-socialist influence in their congregation. In the case of pastor Zank in Haschagen, it can not clearly be judged if his rejection of national-socialism was a defense against the erosion of the traditional authority a apastor enjoyed or if it was a result of a genuin disaffirmation of the national-socialist ideology.
