About Terminological Equivalence in Computer Mediated Communication

Summary/Abstract: We live in a period which is inseparably linked to new forms of electronic communication. The Internet provides its users with new forms of communication among which are messaging, discussions, and chats. Our article focuses on such types of electronic communication, with a special regard to the use of French and Czech in chatrooms. The aim of our study is to analyse the equivalence of linguistic terminology used for the description of chat language phenomena in both above mentioned languages.
