Summary/Abstract: The author discusses processes of (orthographic, grammatical and most importantly morphological) adaptation of foreign elements in new vocabulary items of contemporary Polish. The analysis is based on numerous examples of different types of variant borrowings and words deriving from them in the Polish language. The author shows examples of conscious abiding by the variational form reflecting the foreignness of the word which results from a linguistic vogue.
