Summary/Abstract: In 2001, Jim O’Neill, Chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, published a thesis that argued in favor of the growing influence of emerging markets in Brazil, Russia, India and China – these being most commonly known for their acronym: the BRICs. According to projections, the BRIC nations are in a ruthless race to occupy the positions of the four largest global economies by 2050.
