Summary/Abstract: The paper presents – starting from the current opinions regarding the public spaces and their role in the communities’ life – the circumstances and forms in which the Church manifested itself in the urban public space. It had in view the interwar period, as in that time its representations developed in a public space that latter on became more and more politicized. On one hand, the Church acted – in the continuation of the programme – from the interior of the tabernacle; on the other hand, in this public space the Church intersected with laic factors that many times were of political nature. The religious manifestations – fact demonstrated through the examples from the survey – have been conceived and developed as rites with well-determined functions through which it has been aimed as well at the growth of the influencing power of the Church upon the believers as upon the consolidation of the affective relations between the believers, and between them and the Church.
