Directions of European Regional Policy – selected problems

Summary/Abstract: The article is an attempt to present the shape of contemporary European Regional Policy. Particular attention was paid to the nature and consequences of the Lisbon Strategy and the new strategy “Europe 2020” for solving the problem of “Europe standing in one place” and drawing the new targets of the continent’s development. In the second part of the paper possible scenarios of changes in EU regional policy, depending on its priorities, are presented. The considerations are carried out taking into account the effects of changing the “environment” of Europe as a result of the ongoing globalization process.
