Summary/Abstract: Investors can invest their capital in various financial instruments. Their decisions are driven by particular rates of return and levels of risk. They can either invest in traditional instruments (deposits, bonds, stocks, funds) or modern ones such as precious metals, alcohol or structured products. Over the last few years traditional investments have brought similar profits. Investing in treasury bonds gave comparable rates of return to deposits and inflation level. Serious fluctuations of rates of return were characteristic for Polish stock funds. Investing in gold yielded higher profits than different instruments. Buying alcohol also ended with high returns. Structured products turned out to be the least profitable and despite capital protection generated losses due to inflation.
