Industrial companies’ effectiveness from selected branches of industry

Summary/Abstract: The author analyzes a financial condition of selected manufacturing branches in Poland. Among the branches under consideration there are food, metal and machine-engineering. Asset structure and capital-asset structure as well as profitability are analyzed. The author used the sample of 36 companies listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange for the period of 2004-2008. The empirical findings show a relationship between a selected branch of industry and effectiveness. Metal branch was the most effective in this respect.
