Summary/Abstract: Our research begins with a short attempt to place the specialized language on a discursive level, trying to highlight some of its specific features. Then, we analyze the particularities of the economic discourse as we consider it among specialized languages. Following some specialists such as the representatives of the Prague circle or more recently, Furio Blasco, we find many distinctive functional styles within the economic discourse, which can be rarely found isolated, but more frequently mixed. After these general considerations, we insist on some particularities of Business French, some of them characterizing each economic discourse, others being specific for the French business language. Among the formal characteristics of the French economic vocabulary, we analyze the Anglicism and the antinomic attempt to gallicize the terminology by gallicizing the English words, the calques or the creation of new terms on a French ground, the choice of euphemisms and the metaphors with their specific variants for the economic language. Finally, we emphasize the frequency and the importance of the economic discourse within the international communication, from the negotiations between companies up to commercial correspondence; we can consequently understand the role of this language in teaching/learning foreign languages. Accepting the fact that there is no unique formula in teaching the French economic language, we conclude that it is necessary to adapt the teaching methods to the type of discourse, to the expectations and the means of communication of the targeted public.
