Summary/Abstract: From the beginning of the Enlightenment onwards the contemporary world, believing in reason as a self-sufficient element, has concerned itself with shedding light on the world phenomena, with reducing the idea of the "holy", and with the principle that goes beyond intellect, "prays" solely "in the temple of reason". Therefore, we live now in the age in which Descartes' dull reason, for a certain period confronted with legends, has become legend itself. The truth of reason has taken place of the truth of Revelation, and deep inside it strives to gain control of all aspects of human existence and to elaborate on them following the power of reason. Following Nietzsche, Descartes' reason imagines that God, in whom everybody had believed once, is now dead. So man's intellect and will opposed God's will. The aspiration for spiritual travelling to Heaven had gone and man began to search for answers within the framework of the earth. The world and everything in it was considered the reflection of man's feeling and understanding. Man deemed to be god himself, so that he who had been a humble slave yesterday became a powerful god, a supreme authority, and an unparalleled source of power.
