Summary/Abstract: The senseless "war" on the road, where many people are killed or injured, the material damages are enormous, and the moral damages – immeasurable, necessitates that the society takes the best possible actions for their restriction. To that end, all subjects, regardless of their legal form and which are related to this problem, should join their efforts for its solution. The insurance companies are among those subjects. They have good opportunities for influence in the field of preventive work. Unfortunately, these options are used only to a limited extent. The aim of this article is to outline the guidelines in which the insurance companies should focus their efforts in the fight to reduce the automobile accidents and indicate the specific actions they must undertake.
