Electronic Document Management Systems – EDMS and archiving electronic documents

Summary/Abstract: Fast development of information and communication technologies has a great influence to the methods of archiving electronic documents. A special problem is archiving electronic documents for a long time. Namely information technologies used for storing electronic documents become out of date very fast and that’s why the possibility of searching and reviewing archives becomes questioned already after short time of storing archived documents. When we say Electronic document management systems – EDMS we think usually about some of numerous software tools which are being used today for that purpose. But it is important to know that EDMS exist independent of its technological solution for a long time. In this paper we want to research the results of using EDMS and the influence to archiving electronic documents.
